Why Isn't My Business Showing Up on Google? A Queen Creek Fix List

By Jason Herbert · July 23, 2026

You know your business is good. Your customers know it. So why does Google act like you do not exist?

I hear this from Queen Creek owners all the time, and the frustrating part is that it is almost never about the quality of your work. It is about signals Google looks for that your business is not sending yet. The good news is that most of the reasons are fixable, and a few of them you can fix this week.

Here are the eight most common reasons a local business does not show up, and what to do about each.

1. You do not have a Google Business Profile, or it is not verified

This is the number one cause, and it is the fastest fix. Your Google Business Profile is the free listing that puts you on Google Maps and in the local results. If you have never claimed it, or you started and never finished the verification, Google has almost nothing to show. Search “Google Business Profile,” claim your business, and complete the verification. Nothing else on this list matters as much.

2. Your business info does not match across the web

Google cross-references your name, address, and phone number everywhere it appears. If your website says one address, your Facebook says another, and an old directory lists a disconnected phone number, Google loses confidence in your listing and ranks it lower. Pick one exact version of your name, address, and phone, and make it identical everywhere.

3. Your categories are wrong or too broad

Inside your Google Business Profile you pick a primary category. If a weight loss clinic is listed as “wellness center” or a handyman is listed as “contractor,” you are competing for the wrong searches. Set the most specific primary category that matches what people actually type, then add the secondary ones that fit.

4. You have too few reviews, or they are old

Reviews are one of the strongest local ranking factors, and Google looks at how many you have, how recent they are, and whether you respond. A business with eleven reviews from two years ago looks asleep. Ask every happy customer for a Google review, respond to the ones you get, and keep it going. This is slow, steady work that compounds, and it is worth more than almost anything else you can do.

5. Your website is too slow

Google measures how fast your site loads on a phone, and a slow site quietly holds down your rankings no matter how good your content is. I have seen local sites take more than ten seconds to load. If yours is slow, you are fighting Google with one hand tied behind your back. You can check yours free at pagespeed.web.dev, and our free audit will do it for you and tell you what to fix.

6. Your website does not say where you are or what you do

Google cannot rank you for “Queen Creek” if the word barely appears on your site. Same for your services. If your homepage is all clever taglines and no clear “we do X in Queen Creek,” you are hiding from the exact search you want to win. Put your services and your location in plain text, in your headings, and in your page titles.

7. Your site is brand new or very thin

If your website is only a few weeks old or only has a page or two, Google has not had time to trust it and does not have much to rank. This one just takes patience plus more useful content over time. Real pages for your real services help a lot.

8. You are simply too far, or the competition is entrenched

Sometimes you rank fine, just not for the searcher standing across town, because Google factors in distance. And sometimes an established competitor with hundreds of reviews is sitting on the top spot. Neither of these is hopeless. Strong reviews, local content, and a fast site steadily close the gap. We took one local client from page three in a single city to first-page rankings in ten cities, so entrenched does not mean permanent.

Where to start

If you only do two things this week, finish your Google Business Profile and start asking for reviews. Those move the needle fastest. After that, the site speed and local content work is what separates you from the businesses stuck on page two.

Not sure which of these is holding you back? That is exactly what our free audit is for. We run your site the way Google does, check your profile, and send you the three fixes that matter most in plain English. If you would rather hand the whole thing off, that is what our SEO services do.
